When taking care of any item made of wood the first thing you need to know is what type of finish is on the product.  

In general the less you do to the wood and the quicker you do it the better.  Most times simply using a damp rag to clean up any dust or spills will take care of most problems without damaging the finish.  

Never use anything abrasive or corrosive, you won't be happy with the result.

The products that I sell at BCN Woodcrafts are usually finished with an Acrylic Enamel or Odies Oil.  These finishes are easy to maintain and will hold up to much use.  Acrylic Enamel needs nothing more than the previously mentioned damp rag, but if you have damaged your finish in someway, you can recoat it with additional enamel so long as you thoroughly clean the surfaces before applying.  Reach out to me for some advice before doing this.  

Odies Oil finished products can be cleaned in the same fashion, but should you need to refinish you can buff more Odies Oil into the surface following the instructions on the product.

Remember, less is more, quicker is better.  Take care of your wood products and they will last a lifetime and then some.
